Fine Metal to launch batteries with Japan tech

Chandigarh-based Fine Metal (India), a battery-manufacturing company, is set to introduce batteries developed with Japanese technical collaboration, under the brand name "Taiwa Life Batteries" in the region.

"People want trouble-free batteries. And though several companies have already introduced maintenance-free batteries as they claim them to be, this is the first time a battery with Japanese technology will be launched in the region," claimed Ved Rajpal, managing director of the company.

He added that the battery would cost 50 per cent less than than the existing brands in the market but would work much longer.

With the introduction of the new batteries, the company was expecting at least 25 per cent growth in its turnover at the initial stage, he said.

He added that the company's distributors in the region have already been explained about the features of the new product and expressed confidence that once introduced, the new product would sell like hot cakes.

The company would be producing 300 batteries per day initially but expected production to increase four times in the next six months, he added.

On overseas expansion, Rajpal said after assessing the queries from abroad about its products, the company planned to install a unit in South Africa also.

He said the unique factor of the battery is its seven-hour recharging facility, elimination of premature failure due to discontinuity in intercell connections and low topping frequency. He said the company planned to take the product to other parts of the country also.
