Finolex plans Rs 220 crore expansion

PVC pipe major Finolex Industries (FIL) is planning to raise the production capacity at its Pune and Ratnagiri plants by May.
 
The proposed expansion project would cost around Rs 220 crore.
 
The company offers a wide range of PVC pipes and fittings for diverse applications in agriculture, housing, telecom, industry, ranging from 20 mm diameter to 400 mm diameter.
 
Its PVC pipe manufacturing and fittings unit is based in Pune, while PVC resin plant is in Ratnagiri. The company also manufacturers special pipes with fittings, namely soil, waste and rain water (SWR) pipes and fittings for the construction industry.
 
Saurabh Dhanorkar, director (commercial), Finolex Industries, said, "Currently, the production capacity of Pune plant is 65,000 metric tonne (MT), which will be increased to 80,000 MT by February. The production capacity of Ratnagiri plant, 1.30 lakh MT at present, will be doubled by May. As per the expansion plan, the company plans to invest Rs 220 crore - Rs 200 crore at Ratnagiri and Rs 20 crore at its Pune unit."
 
The Ratnagiri plant is spread over 700 acre, while Pune plant is spread over 85 acre.
 
"The company has invested over Rs 1,050 crore on both the plants till now. In FY05, its sales turnover was Rs 1,000 crore. By December 2005, the company has posted a 30 per cent growth in sales compared with a 5 per cent growth in the comparable period last financial year," Dhanorkar added.
 
Both the PVC pipes (Pune) and PVC resin (Ratnagiri) units have been awarded the IS 14001 certificate for environment management systems.
 
The strength of the company lies in its quality products and satisfied customers. It has built a very large distribution network, which adds to its strength.
