FKCCI to demand concession for industry

Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) will conduct its state level conference of district chambers and other associations on January 21, this year to present the various demands of the chamber before the state government.

The meeting, which will take place in Gulbarga, will be attained by representatives from 30 districts along with the industry minister, Murugesh R Nirani.

“Issues concerning to small and medium enterprises, infrastructure, taxation and civic amenities will be discussed in this meeting and we will represent our demands before the minister,” N S Srinivas Murthy, president of FKCCI said.

He also said that the state government had inculcated around eight demands out of total 14 in the last year’s state budget. The officials also informed media persons that the chamber seeks to spread the growth of industrial sector beyond Bangalore.

“While industry is facing problems like high land cost and power shortage, there is also an overall lack of road and other infrastructure facilities in the hinterland,” Murthy said.

He also added that the chamber would seek some relief in the taxation front to facilitate growth of the industry sector.

“We seek extension of exemption of duty on tur dal along with some relief from local body taxation,” he said.

As present levies charged by local bodies are too high and put burden on small and medium enterprises, we seek some kind of relief from the state government regarding this matter, he added.

Earlier, FKCCI has conducted two state level conferences in Bangalore and it has decided to conduct this meeting in Gulbarga in its bid to include the problems of the industry in hinterland.
