A Gururaj, the operations head of Flextronics Corporation's Indian arm, is understood to have left the company.

The director and general manager of the company's Indian operations, Flextronics Technologies, who was also in charge of overseeing the operations of Flextronics' manufacturing facility out of Chennai, has supposedly filed his resignation papers over a month ago, industry sources said.

When contacted, Gururaj declined to comment on reports of his departure. "I am not talking to the media about it," he said, when asked to confirm or deny reports on his exit. Queries sent to the company's Singapore headquarters remained unanswered.

Gururaj's exit coincides with reports from local sources that the plant had run into operational issues, involving irregular production offtake and stagnant operating margins, in the past eight months.

The co-location of Flextronics' suppliers within the park was another unresolved issue facing the company's management, sources said.

Flextronics started operations under the SEZ Act at its manufacturing facility situated within the SIPCOT industrial park at Sriperumbudur, 40 km from Chennai, in January this year.
