Under the training model, sellers will be offered special support and training to extend their range of offerings with products that will appeal to customers. According to the company the seller base in West Bengal is poised to become one of the key seller hubs and is clocking a MoM growth of around 10-15 percent.
"West bengal is well known for its unique range of home decor, handloom , clothing and handicraft products, our focus will be to educate and empower these sellers," said Ankit Nagori, SVP, Marketplace, Flipkart. The e-commerce major launched its home decor category on Tuesday. It will offer more than 5,00,000 products across 1,000 national and international brands.
The homegrown e-tailer is also rolling out financial assistance, to the tune of Rs 50 lakh to help them scale up their business. For that they had tied up with lending partners like Capital Float and Lendingkart.
The sellers will be trained to plan their inventory and merchandise and advertisement their product successfully. Currently the company has 30,00 seller in its platform which it wants to increase to 100,000 by the end of 2015.
