The Flipkart and Myntra Big Billion Days sale, which began today, got off to a bad start, as its app crashed at midnight. The online retailers expected a 10-fold rise in consumer traffic this sale season. However, the app seems to be struggling to cope up with the large number of users.
Last year, during the Big Billion Day sale, Flipkart faced flak from its consumers for both technical glitches and price discrepancies. Keeping that in mind, the e-commerce company promised a hassle-free experience this year, expanding its delivery operations staffers to 16,000 and fulfillment centres from 13 to 17.
The Flipkart and Myntra Big Billion Days sale this year is an app-only sale, which means users need to download the app, to avail the discounts available to them. Meanwhile, Flipkart also reached out to its users via a tweet, asking them to restart the app in case of issues.
The e-commerce giant Amazon India, which is also having it's festive sale during the same period, also faced some payment issues, according to some users.
