Online marketplace Flipkart has opened a fulfilment centre at Luhari near Gurgaon ahead of its annual Big Billion Day sale.

The centre will help speed up delivery of consumer electronics and durables to customers in Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.

With the new warehouse, Flipkart aims to enable next-day deliveries in the region. Currently, North India accounts for about 25% of Flipkart’s sales in the country.

In July, it had set up a new warehouse at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.

E-commerce firms are opening warehouse and delivery centres across the country to reach out faster to customers.

“Adding a new warehouse to cater to this region further reinforces our promise of enhancing the customer experience with faster deliveries. With Flipkart Big Billion Days just around the corner, the new warehouse will help us improve the productivity and meet the anticipated demand during this period”, said Binny Bansal, chief operating officer and co-founder, Flipkart.

The new warehouse is exclusively for consumer electronics and durables like TVs, washing machines, refrigerators, ACs and microwave ovens in the northern region, Flipkart said. It has a total storage capacity of close to 5 lakh cubic feet spread over 1 lakh square feet.
