To bring a touch of the best in cutlery to the Indian household, largely an unorganised market basking in cheap imports from China and European firms, FnS India Inc, a Delhi-based company, plans to tap the more than Rs 125-crore Indian cutlery market with the launch of its new tableware. FnS (Forks & Spoons) launched its new range of cutlery here on Wednesday. |
Addressing a press conference, Adish Jain, director, FnS India Inc, said, "We believe that there is more to cutlery than just forks and spoons. Our idea is not just to present the best but also to cut into the Indian cutlery market and make our presence felt in the domain dominated by prominent players such as Magppie, Venus and Kischco." |
Stating that FnS aims at capturing at least 25 per cent of the organised cutlery market by the end of the first year, Jain said, "Initially, the brand is being rolled out in five lakh-plus towns. We have appointed a distributor in each of the states in north, west and south and will strengthen our retail presence to 2,000 outlets by the end of this year." |
FnS first launched its cutlery range in October 2005 in the northern region and is targeting leading lifestyle stores, super markets and top-of-the-line crockery and utensils stores across the country. |
The new range is available in wooden tray-cum-boxes in sets of 18, 24 and 26 pieces and is priced between Rs 500 and Rs 6,000. |
FnS plans a sale of 20 lakh units in the first year and garner up to Rs 6 crore. |
