Online food delivery marketplace Foodpanda, in association with Iskcon Food Relief Foundation, has announced a campaign -- You Say, We Give -- for World Food Day, starting October 16.

World Food Day, celebrated on October 16, is an annual day of action against hunger. On this day, people around the world come together for a common cause to contribute to the eradication of hunger.

The week-long campaign centres on an interactive platform that enables users to select one of the five stock food items (rice, potatoes, pulses, flour or pasta) and Foodpanda will donate one kilogram on their behalf to a local food bank.

Foodpanda will be collecting people's wishes from October 16 to October 22. If the post is shared on Facebook, Foodpanda will double the donation. So, the more people speak, the more Foodpanda gives, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

To participate, users can go to Foodpanda's page to pick one of the donation items. The donation counter can also be witnessed in real-time.

With one click, Foodpanda will donate one kilogram of food to Iskcon Food Relief Foundation, a non- profit trust of the Iskon group which runs the world's largest vegetarian mid-day meal programme and is active in around 75 countries, serving more than 1.2 million underprivileged children every day.

Foodpanda has launched this campaign to encourage collective efforts and be part of this global movement which will be operational in 15 countries, the company added.
