Ford India today reported 9.45% increase in sales for September at 10,270 units on the back of higher exports.
The company had sold 9,383 units in the same month last year, Ford India said in a statement.
The sales rose mainly on the back of new vehicle, all-new Ford Fiesta, and continued strong demand for the Ford Figo.
Ford's domestic sales declined 6.9% to 7,801 units as against 8,380 units in the same month last year, it added. Its overseas shipments, however, moved up to 2,469 units in September this year as against 1,003 units in same month last year.
"The festival season is coming and Ford India has a lot to celebrate," said Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham, adding the company was close to reaching the 1,00,000 sales milestone for this year.
During the January to September period this year, Ford sold 90,612 units as against 67,253 units in the year-ago period, up 35%.
He said the company is working to clear bottlenecks with suppliers to manufacture more diesel cars to reduce the waiting period.
The company had recently started work on its second plant in Gujarat, where it will invest Rs 4,000 crore.
