Ford to roll out Fiesta in November

Ford India, a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, will be launching its Fiesta, a new mid-sized segment car, in November. The model is expected to compete against Toyota's Corolla and Hyundai's Elantra.
 
Addressing mediapersons on a teleconference, Arvind Mathew, managing director and president, Ford India, said, "Ford Fiesta will cater to the rapidly growing midsize segment of the car industry. The launch car marks a significant milestone, as this is a model that will be seen by the world for the first time."Fiesta will be pegged between the entry-level Ikon and luxury Mondeo.
 
Details regarding the price, specific features of the Fiesta was not disclosed as Mathew said the company would be coming out with this information in the coming weeks.
 
Fiesta will hit dealer showrooms during the first week of November, while it will be available to customers from the mid-week of November, he said.
 
A statement said that Ford Fiesta will come in diesel as well as petrol version with the 'Dura' technologies.
 
The duratec petrol engine is expected to give through a unique combination of advanced combustion technology, minimum weight, low internal friction and new levels of refinement a smooth drive. To address the growing demand for diesel, Ford will introduce its proprietory TDCi (Turbo Direct Common Rail injection).
 
The Fiesta will strengthen Ford's portfolio in India and position us to compete more aggresively, he added. Almost two years have been spent on developing the Fiesta. A team of Indian engineers worked with product development teams from the UK, Germany and Australia on the project.
