Fortis Healthcare turns around, Q4 net at Rs 4.8 cr

Fortis Healthcare reported a net profit of Rs 4.8 crore during the fourth quarter of the last financial year as against a loss of Rs 9.9 crore in the corresponding period in 2007-08.

The operating profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 went up by 30 per cent to Rs 172.8 crore compared to the same period a year ago.

The total revenue for the company stood at Rs 177 crore. The healthcare arm added three hospitals to its network during the last year and forayed into international business by acquiring 29 per cent stake in Clinique Dame in Mauritius.

The consolidated profit for the year stood at Rs 20.8 crore as against net loss of Rs 55.5 crore in the corresponding period in 2007-08. The total income of the company went up by over 20 per cent to Rs 659.2 crore. Operating revenue stood at Rs 630.7 crore.

“In FY09 our focus was on the growth in revenues across all the hospitals with continued focus on quality patient care and service excellence…” said chief executive officer Bhavdeep Singh.

The corporate run hospital has a network of 28 hospitals including 12 satellite and heart command centre.
