Foxconn founder Terry Gou will interact with Indian technology entrepreneurs in Bengaluru on Saturday, exploring opportunities to collaborate and invest in start-ups.
Foxconn, known as the maker of Apple’s iPhones, has already expressed interest to set up 10-12 manufacturing units in India, hoping to tap increasing appetite of consumers to buy technology gadgets such as smartphones.
India was the second largest mobile phone market in 2014 with 270 million units, according to a report by HSBC Global. The country’s volume growth is expected to be 26% in the next five years, higher than China, where smartphone buying is expected to grow at 5%.
Gou will meet executives of around 20 companies at the office of venture capital firm Accel in Bengaluru, an entrepreneur, who is taking part in the meet, said.
On Friday, Gou expressed interest in setting up incubators, which groom start-ups in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
The Bengaluru trip is the last leg of the two-day India trip to explore business opportunities in the country.
