It rained money for Kishore Biyani’s Future Group when it clocked a whopping Rs 105 crore in sales on August 17 and a total of Rs 350 crore in just five days between August 12-17.

“We had a total sales of Rs 350 crore across all our retail formats in those five days,” Future Group’s CEO Kishore Biyani said.

The group had launched a 5-day promotional blitz called `Mahabachat’ across its retail chains from August 12 till August 17. On August 17 alone, the company raked in a mind-boggling Rs 105 crore.

The promotion and special offers were offered across the Future Group’s retail formats – Big Bazaar, Pantaloons, Food Bazaar, Central, EZone, Home Town, Brand Factory, Furniture Bazaar, KBs Fairprice, Mobile Bazaar and Aadhar.

The ‘Mahabachat’ initiative attracted an unprecedented number of customer footfalls that helped Future Group achieve this significant milestone, he said.

“We have been pleasantly surprised by the phenomenal response we have received from customers during the past week,” Biyani said.

Apart from boosting the group’s bottom line, the moolah raked in from the thousands of customers also reveals that consumer confidence remains buoyant in the country.

In the midst of an inflationary scenario, crossing the Rs 350-crore sales mark has reinforced our belief that this could be a vital indicator that consumer confidence continues to remain buoyant in India, Biyani said. During the past five days, Big Bazaar attracted over 6-million customers at its outlets stretching from Bharuch to Guwahati and Panipat to Palakkad.

Future Group has a presence in 64 cities and 65 rural locations across the country, covering over 10-million sq ft of retail space.
