Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) reported a lower profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 19.01 for the first quarter ended 30 June, 2010 as compared to Rs 37.91 crore in the same period last fiscal on account of erosion in price realisations for caustic soda and caustic potash products. The net sales of the company marginally declined to Rs. 326.80 crore in the first quarter from Rs. 328.58 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. GACL plans to commission 50 tonnes per day (TPD) calcium chloride unit at its Vadodara complex and 50 TPD stable bleaching powder project in this fiscal.
