Gail India's drilling rig, Ekha, has reached the drill site, and the company has commenced drilling in the Bay of Bengal in association with consortium partner Gazprom of Russia.According to a release issued by Gail to the BSE today, the block - NEC-OSN-97/1 - is located in offshore Bay of Bengal, 120 km from the on-land base at Haldia. The block had been awarded to the Gail-Gazprom consortium in NELP-I."The first well at a water depth of 45 metre is proposed to be drilled to a depth of 2,400 metre below the sea bed. The well is expected to be spud in 4-5 days, and it is expected to take one month to complete the well," the release added.
