Hyderabad-based logistics solution company Gati Limited has reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 11.81 crore for the quarter ended June, 2016, an increase of 20 per cent over Rs 9.88 crore in the corresponding quarter previous year.
Total income from operations rose little over 2 per cent to Rs 425.54 crore as compared to Rs 416.24 crore in the year ago period.
Commenting on the company's performance, Mahendra Agarwal, founder and chief executive of Gati Limited, said: "We have embarked on an ambitious mission of ramping up Gati's operations towards delivering a million packages a day, while ensuring zero delays and zero damages. In the pursuit of the same, we have undertaken large-scale project to automate our pan-India network operations using bar code scans on each and every package."
According to Agarwal, the passage of the GST Bill will be a significant trigger for the Indian industry to migrate from legacy supply chain models designed to optimise current tax considerations, to more efficient supply chain models and this is going to be a big opportunity to Gati.
