GCA joins hands with germany's Durr Systems

Gujarat Chemical Association (GCA), an Ahmedabad-based apex body of chemical industry, has forged a strategic alliance with Durr Systems India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Germany-based Durr Systems Gmbh. The tie-up is for creating awareness about environment friendly scientific solutions for pollution control.

As part of the alliance, Durr India will be able to provide modern day pollution control techniques and technologies to various industries in Naroda and Vatva of Ahmedabad as well as South Gujarat belt, which houses one of the largest chemical estates of Asia.

Durr India, a leading supplier of paint and assembly systems for automotive industry, has also forayed into the business of technology solutions for ecological and environmental pollution control.

"Through strategic tie-up, chemical and pharma industry will be able get pollution control solutions of the company at a cheaper rate," Andreas Stedfeld, MD, Durr India, said while announcing the alliance with GCA here in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, GCA has also chalked out plans to set up a chemical research and development center near Ahmedabad to provide research support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The apex chemical industry body has also sought cooperation of Gujarat government for setting up the proposed R&D center called Gujarat Chemical Research and Development Center. "We have submitted a project report to the state government, which has principally agreed to go ahead with it," said Jaimin Vasa, president, Gujarat Chemical Association (GCA).

Around Rs. 8 to Rs. 10 crore would be infused for the center, which is likely to come up near Ahmedabad.

The basic objective of the proposed center would be to provide research support to SME segment.

"The center would undertake product, quality as well as environment research activities for small scale industries," he added.

Apart from this, the chemical association plans to start skill development programme for chemical industry. The programme is aimed at creating skilled manpower for chemical industry and it will be carried out through public private partnership (PPP).
