GE's John F Welch Technology Centre (JFWTC) in Bangalore which has been at the forefront of developing technologies in the field of healthcare, energy, aircraft engines in the GE scheme of things, has said that it is working to create engines for aircraft of a smaller scale, such as a 90-120 passenger aircraft, something which would be the right fit for the planned regional transport aircraft (RTA) in India.

GE which has worked on India's LCA (Light Combat Aircraft) project, has said that it has had discussions on the 90-120 seater aircraft, but there has been no progress so far on that specific project. JFWTC's managing director Gopichand Katragadda told Business Standard that as part of its range of development activities which the Centre is focussed on, they are also looking at pursuing development in the field of energy distribution.
