Information Technology firm Geodesic Limited's wholly-owned subsidiary, Interactive Networks Inc, (INI), has inked a deal with Chile's leading mobile phone operator, Entel PCS.

INI is a software provider of advanced instant messaging and value-added solutions, and is based in Uruguay.

The company recently launched the Windows Live Java service with Entel PCS which is leveraging INI's highly customisable messaging platform to fit the needs of its more than six million subscribers, a press release issued here today said.

Entel PCS' subscribers are among the first in Latin America to have the Windows Live instant messaging service adapted to their mobile phones.

Users can download for free Entel PCS' Java-based application, which provides a superior, always-on connection to their friends and contacts. Given the popularity of Windows Live Messenger, Entel PCS expects to add around 1-lakh users during the first year, the release said.

"The combined solution of INI's flexible instant messaging platform and Windows Live allows our subscribers to be some of the very first throughout Latin America to access one of the most popular Internet tools, now from a mobile device, anywhere and anytime," Entel PCS' Product and Services Manager, Alfredo Albetman, said.
