Company will set up its development centre in Chennai by March 2012.
Germany based Pilz GmbH & Co, a multinational group in the field of automation and industrial safety recently announced its entry into the Indian market by setting up a wholly owned subsidiary, Pilz India Pvt. Ltd, in Pune.
Pilz which provides safety systems and safety services for industrial automation has commenced their operations in India. Also, the company is setting up its development centre in Chennai by the end of March 2012 and a sales office in Delhi.
Commenting on the India operations, Renate Pilz, president and CEO of Pilz GmbH & Co said, “After closely studying the Indian market for the past few years, we realised that the potential in India's booming economy and rising demand for automation in all sectors of the manufacturing industry. With our long experience and level of expertise, I am confident that we can effectively cater to the industry and be a part of its growth in India and across the globe."
She added, "Initially we will be focusing on technology and engineering services for safety in India. There is a need of safety awareness over here and will follow the international standards. The company follows principal of redundancy and diversity."
Pilz has all the major automobile customers like Daimler, Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Ford. It has been doing business in India on representative basis from the last few years.

It will also expand the customer base in the areas like automotive, wind energy, oil and gas, machinery automation, packaging and railways.
Speaking on this occasion, Sanjay Kulkarni, managing director, Pilz India said "This is a first step to educate Indian customers about industrial safety. We have developed some products and devices which help to minimise accident. There is a potential in India especially for automobile industry but we will also focus on other sectors like steel, oil & gas and wind energy. Pilz provides viable solutions to the most complex safety issues and thus helps companies to apply the best manufacturing practises."
Pilz will also educate engineering students in India on industrial safety and will conduct courses for them.
