Gillette India Ltd is considering the sale of its Geep battery business in India. The board of directors of the company today met to consider a report prepared by Price Waterhouse Coopers, and set up a Review and Implementation Committee, which will decide the future course of action.
The Geep brand, which was acquired by Gillette a few years ago from Geep Industrial Syndicate, commands a turnover of around Rs 70-80 crores on date, company officials claim. But they added that the decision on sale was not arrived at yet. The issue was under consideration.
The review of the Geep battery business comes close on the heels of the company deciding to shut down its Duracell battery manufacturing unit at Manesar, in Gurgaon, and may eventually lead to the company
