Ginners meet in Rajkot on Sept 26

With a view to taking stock of cotton production and deliberating on issues concerning cotton and ginning industry, Saurashtra Ginners Association (SGA) has invited ginners from various parts of the country to Rajkot. The meeting will co-incide with the annual general meeting of SGA on September 26.

Cotton and ginning industry representatives from Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka are expected to attend the meeting. BA Patel, joint secretary, Union Textile Ministry will also be present as the chief guest of the event.

“Apart from cotton production scenario for the next year, we will also discuss problems faced by cotton and ginning industry,” said Bharat Vala, president, SGA.

Heads for various cotton and ginning industry associations operating in different states will also brief the gathering about the prospects of cotton output and the current status of ginning industries in their respective states.

“Sankar-6 is the most sought after cotton variety in the international market and we are trying to promote it as a brand. We will also discuss it in the AGM,” said Vala.

Saurashtra Ginners Association is an apex body of cotton ginners in Saurashtra region. SGA has more than 200 members.
