Continuing its growth trajectory, GKN Driveline announced that it will invest Rs 130 crore to set up a 600,000 per annum sideshaft manufacturing facility in Pune by August next year that will also make trans-axle solutions.
The 8000 sq meter facility will employ more than 200 people, and apart from sideshafts the plant will also manufacture differentials from GKN Driveline's trans-axle solutions product range. "This new facility positions GKN Driveline strongly to meet the continued rapid growth of India's automotive industry. It is the next step in our mission to remain close and accessible to our customers in west India," said Marc Vuarchex, managing director, GKN Driveline AsiaPacific. The new factory is planned to have a capacity scaleable upto 2.4 million CVJ systems (sideshafts) and the daily production will be increased gradually.
The company is planning to expand the capacity at the Oragadam plant (near Chennai) next year.
