Glass unit planned at Nellore

Hindusthan National Glass and Industries Limited (HNGI) plans to set up a glass manufacturing complex at Naidupet in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.

HNGI joint managing director Mukul Somany on Monday called on chief minister K Rosaiah in this regard.

The complex will comprise two container and one float glass plants.

In his representation, Somany said the mega complex would involve an investment of Rs 1,000 crore.

The company will initially set up a 450-tonne per day container glass plant with an investment of Rs 480 crore. Construction work on the plant would commence by April this year and completed by mid-2012. The plant would employ 1,500 persons directly or indirectly.

Work on the float glass plant, with a production capacity of 600 tonne per day, would begin by early 2012 and completed in two years.

On the other hand, construction work on the second container glass plant would begin in 2014 while production would start from mid-2016, according to a release.
