GlobalLogic, a provider of outsourced product development (OPD) services, plans to expand its operations in India to cash in on rise in demand for research and development (R&D) services in areas like healthcare, communications, and banking.

Sumit Sood, Managing Director for GlobalLogic India told Business Standard that the approach of the company would be to come out with innovation hubs catering to these segments.

The company is also focusing on global markets and to capture those would be coming up with innovation labs to cater to these segments in global markets. “We will start setting up teams to focus on global markets from where we are seeing a lot of demand, and build innovation hubs. We are doing it in digital ecommerce space. We will be expanding to communications and banking as well,” added Sood.

With 11 separate entities including companies such as Paytm and Tech Mahindra coming out with their payments banks, which would be rolled over the next few months, Sood said that GlobalLogic would be actively working with the players to provide them with various solutions. "We are in discussion with a lot of them."

As far as the government's 'Smart City' plans are concerned Sood said that they are looking into projects where they can directly work with the government or via another company providing them with Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. "All those things are under consideration though we have not taken a concrete decision yet," he added.

The company would be working on a host of IoT products for e-commerce companies such as Flipkart and Snapdeal among others and provide them with logistics solutions. GlobalLogic is also working on medical IoT equipment for which it has tied up with a major hospital chain in India.
