General Motors India (GMI) today reported a 46.6% rise in December sales, and said it would raise production capacity to 60,000 units annually next month to launch more vehicles.A total of 2,403 units were sold last month as compared to 1,650 units in December 2003, an official statement said. The company sold 520 units of Chevrolet Optra, 1,467 units of Chevrolet Tavera and 409 units of Opel Corsa last month.The Indiam arm of the world's biggest carmaker posted a 72.6% rise at 26,166 units in 2004 over 15,155 cars sold in 2003.GMI is aiming at selling 22,000 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 10,000 units of Chevrolet Optra and 8,000 units of Opel Corsa in 2005.The company manufactures cars at its Halol (Gujarat) facility, and imports Opel Vectra and sports utility vehicle Chevrolet Forester.
