General Motors (GM) India officially launched Chevrolet Aveo here on Thursday. Chevrolet Aveo is the first of three new Chevrolet brands debuting in the first six months of 2006. |
It will be joined by Aveo U-VA and Optra SRV in the coming months. Aveo falls in the regular sedan category and has been launched in more than 140 countries around the world under Chevrolet. |

Speaking to media, Anusha Motwani, director (marketing), GM India, said, "Aveo has been reengineered for the Indian market. It will be built in India and will raise the bar by setting a benchmark in the small car segment." |

Aveo has been styled by the Italian Giugiario design studio and is competitively priced in the small car segment, Motwani said. |

GM India makes Chevrolet at its manufacturing facility at Halol in Gujarat. "To enhance our reach and presence, we are expanding our showrooms from the current 75 to 107 in the next fiscal." |

Chevrolet's network is spread across 63 towns and cities in the country and plans to expand it to 84 in the coming months. GM India currently has parts distributions centres in Mumbai, Halol and Chennai. "We are planning to open one more in Delhi in June 2006," Motwani said. |

Aveo is available in two engine options "� 1.4L and 1.6L, and in three variants "� Aveo 1.4, Aveo 1.4S and Aveo 1.6 LT. The ex-showroom price of Aveo 1.4 is Rs 5.82 lakh and of Aveo 1.6 LT is Rs 6.85 lakh. |
