General Motors (GM) India today reported a near 10% drop in June sales at 2,183 units against 2,418 units in the same month last year, andattributed it to disruption in production."Unprecedented rains and floods in Baroda disrupted production and dispatches in the month end," the company said.The June sales included 1,461 units of the multi-purpose vehicle 'Tavera', 404 units of the luxury sedan 'Chevrolet Optra', 315 'Opel Corsas' and three units of imported SUV 'Forester'."We lost sales of around 300 units as rains and floods hit our production and dispatches towards the month end," Amit Dutta, vice president (marketing, sales and aftersales) oF GM India said today.The company's sales in the six months of this calender year, however, saw a growth of 42% at 15,297 units. These included 9,703 units of Tavera, 3,638 Optras, 1,932 Corsas and 24 Foresters.Sales in the corresponding period last year stood at 10,737 units.GM India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation, has its facility at Halol, Gujarat.
