General Motors India has temporarily closed the production at its plant located in Halol near Vadodara. The plant has been shut for about a fortnight. However, company officials have maintained that the closure is a routine exercise and it is not a fallout of ongoing global meltdown.
“There will be no production at company's Halol unit for about two weeks”, said P Balendran, vice-president, General Motors India. The company is said to have shut the production at Halol from 13 December to 30 December. Earlier the closure was for seven to 10 days but this time around the duration is longer on account of Christmas holidays and weekends, added Balendran.
