The Indian arm of the US-based General Motors Corporation has decided to outsource engines and transmissions from the Pithampur (Indore) unit of Hindustan Motors for Travera. The vehicle will be assembled in Gujarat. |
General Motors, according to sources, has planned to launch the vehicle next year. Powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine, the car will cost Rs 6-7 lakh. |
"The company (Hindustan Motors) will manufacture Travera's engines and transmission systems at its Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh," a source said. |
Supplies to General Motors were likely to start in January, sources said. |
