GMR Aviation Academy, the aviation training arm of the GMR Group, is starting its first batch of International Air Transport Association (IATA) courses at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, here, from December.

This will be a three-month part-time course in travel and tourism, airport operations and air cargo handling. Working professionals and students who have completed their intermediate or perusing graduation are eligible to apply. The selection process would be completed by this month and classes would commence from December 1, a release stated.

The academy was set up in 2009 in collaboration with IATA, Airport Council International, International Civil Aviation Organisation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). It has also entered into an agreement with Incheon International Airport Aviation Academy for joint development and delivery of training programmes.

IATA has accredited the academy as the authorised training centre for aviation-related training programmes in India while DGCA has accredited it to conduct the dangerous goods regulation training.
