Betting on its strategic location, GMR Group-promoted Hyderabad International Airport has plans to connect more domestic airports in neighboring states to increase international passengers through it.
The company has launched its “Fly via Hyderabad” campaign in five cities having domestic airports and has plans to go to 14 such locations in central and south India to promote the initiative.
"If somebody wants to go to Dubai, the traditional mindset is to go to Mumbai first and then take a Dubai flight. But we want to tell people from smaller cities in south and central India that flying to Dubai via Hyderabad would take less time, and is hassle-free,” said Vikram R Jaisinghani, chief executive officer of GMR Hyderabad airport at a promotional event here . "It is cheaper also as the duration of flight journey comes down,” he added. The airport currently has connections to Gulf countries, UK, the US and several Southeast Asian nations. To promote its Fly via Hyderabad campaign, the company has tied up with several travel agents and has invested in outdoor advertisings, the CEO said.
