T Srinagesh, chief operating officer (COO) of GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) which is developing the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, has resigned. A GHIAL spokesperson said that Srinagesh had resigned as he "decided to become an entrepreneur." He will, however, continue in the capacity as a consultant till the commercial start of the airport operations in March 2008. Rajagopal Swami, chief financial officer of GHIAL, will handle all responsibilities overseen by Srinagesh.Srinagesh joined GHIAL in 2003 as vice-president (business development), and elevated as COO by the end of 2004. According to the spokesperson, the airport project is on schedule with over 90% of the works completed. The passenger trials have started from August, and trials by airlines will commence in early February once the air traffic control tower gets commissioned around mid-January.
