The State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) has approved two proposals in the energy sector including a proposal of GMR Kamalang Energy or capacity expansion The other proposal is the Rs 298.05 crore investment plan of Maa Durga Thermal Power to set up a 60Mw generation facility at Tangi.
GMR Kamalang Energy’s plan to expand the capacity of its project from 1050 Mw to 1400 Mw would cost the company an additional Rs 2000 crore. The estimated cost of the project, which was Rs 4000 crore earlier, is now pegged at Rs 6040 crore. Talking to the media after the meeting, industry secretary Saurabh Garg said, the approval to the proposal of Maa Durga Thermal Power to set up a 60 Mw (2x30Mw) power plant follows the water allocation for the project by the state water resources department.
Sources said, the Maa Durga Thermal’s power project was recommended by the Task Force on Power in its 7th meeting held in July 2009, subject to availability of water from Birupa. The promoters have a 1.2 Mw husk fired unit at Tangi and the project will require 2 Mw power during the construction period. No additional land would be given to the promoters and the project is expected to be commissioned within 24 months from the attainment of the financial closure
