Godrej Agrovet Ltd will open 25 agri services-cum-retail stores under the brand name "Godrej Aadhaar" in Punjab, and 15 to 20 such stores in Haryana in this financial year. |
The company plans to set up a total of 100 to 120 stores in the country in 2006-07. At present, the company has 24 Aadhaar centres in Maharashtra, Punjab, West Bengal, Orissa and Tamil Nadu. |

These stores will offer agricultural solutions and products to farmers and also provide a wide range of commodities including food and grocery items, apparel, footwear, home appliances, furniture and kitchenware. |

These outlets will also house banks, insurance offices, pharmacies, post offices and petrol pumps. At present, the company has eight stores in Punjab and two in Haryana. |

Talking to Business Standard, Executive Vice-President R S Vijan, who was in the city to launch two large agri services-cum-rural retail stores, said, "The company has a strong association with farmers. Godrej Aadhaar will help farmers meet their daily needs, and also prevent migration to urban areas. Within sixteen months of its launch, Godrej Aadhaar has set up 24 centres in the country. The company has decided to expand in rural and semi-urban markets. We will open 100-120 stores in the country in this financial year." |

The company plans to set up over 1,000 Aadhaar outlets in the next five years in the country and is expecting a turnover of Rs 3,500-4,000 crore from these stores, over the same period. |

Godrej Agrovet had a turnover of Rs 900 crore in 2005-06. It is one of the key players in the agricultural sector with a conspicuous presence in cattle, poultry, aqua feed, etc. |

Recently, the firm signed a deal with Apollo Pharmacy, part of the Apollo Hospitals group and the country's largest retail pharmacy chain, to give medical support to the farming community. |
