Godrej Consumer is considering outsourcing manufacturing to India for some products for Keyline Brands, a company it had acquired in UK in October last year.Adi Godrej, chairman, Godrej Consumer said:"The final decision would depend upon how economical it would be for us to do so and we are studying the details at present." He added that the company would take a decision on this within this financial year.Cuticura, he said is one brand that the company was not allowed to manufacture in India as Godrej does not own the rights to the brand here (Cholayil does). The company would be launching the Erasmic range of mens products in India later this year, which Godrej said would be at the premium end of the market.Godrej said that in addition to expanding the Keyline presence to other countries, the company was also looking at expanding the brand through acquisitions. Apart from this, the company was also on the lookout for acquisitions in the home and personal care categories in India and internationally.Hoshedar Press, executive director & president, Godrej Consumer said: the company would not launch 'me-too' products in new categories, but only those where they could provide a substantial value add to the customer. "We will look at entering one new category a year," he said.
