Kaoninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij... no, it's not baby talk, we know it better as KLM, the Royal Dutch airlines. Well, the news is that they are investing a royal sum of over ¤100 million to pamper their passengers in World Business Class as well as in other classes.

The fleet upgrade and cabin interiors will be done over the next two years across the fleet and your flight in KLM after this will be "10 per cent more comfortable".

On the revamp menu is fresh, modern lighting and colour coordinated carpets, curtains and partitions. All this is along with the lie-flat seats, audio and video on demand and LCD screens and IFE already available in KLM flights.

But the bigger change is in the seating. KLM is fitting Recaro 3510 seats in their 737-800 and -900 Boeings, and in World Business Class (WBC) aboard the Boeing 747-400 and subsequently the MD-11.

The Recaro seats will allow you to work on your laptop thanks to its 110-volt inseat power, plus it is spacious too. KLM also touts the fact that this seat is lighter than their existing one by a kilogram. Which means a lighter aircraft, less fuel consumption, better economics and therefore low ticket prices... just joking about the last one.

With the revamp, KLM will have a more consistent product standard throughout their fleet "" a process that's already been introduced aboard their Boeing 777s and Airbus A330s. If you are flying between cities on any of KLM's Fokker cityhoppers, you will see the changes there too.
