Govt invites applications for new Hindustan Copper CMD

The government today invited applications for the coveted post of Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL), as the tenure of the copper producer's incumbent chief comes to an end next year.

"The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) is seeking qualified candidates for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Hindustan Copper Ltd," the PSEB said on its website.

The last date for the receipt of applications for the CMD's post is December 7, the website said.

"It is requested that names of candidates... May kindly be forwarded to PESB by December 7, 2011," it said.

Shakeel Ahmed, who took over as the Chairman and Managing Director of HCL in 2009, will remain in office till August 31, 2012. Before joining the public sector firm, Ahmed was the projects advisor to the Railways, the company said.

He joined the Indian Railways in 1975 and served for 34 years in various capacities, HCL said. Satish C Gupta was the CMD of HCL before Ahmed took over the coveted post.
