India has imposed anti-dumping duty of up to $0.92 a kg on imports of nylon tyre cord fabric, a key ingredient in automotive tyre manufacturing, from Belarus, to protect the domestic industry.

After concluding that imports from Belarus were taking place at very low prices, hurting the domestic industry, the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) had recommended anti-dumping duty on the fabric.

DGAD is the designated authority in the commerce ministry, which investigates anti-dumping cases. The duty would be in between $0.77 and $0.92 per kg, the finance ministry said in a notification.

The anti-dumping duty imposed would be levied for a period of five years from the date of imposition of the provisional anti-dumping duty, which is April 29, and would be payable in the Indian currency, it said.

Earlier, the government had imposed duty on several other products, including yarns, colour picture tubes, some aluminum products and chemicals.
