Flood of news channels in all prinicipal languages cannot demean the credibility of newspapers, said minister of state for information and public relations, Dr Rajendra Shingane.
Speaking at the inaugural of divisional office of Maharashtra Rajya Sampadak Sahkari Sangh yesterday, the minister assured that government will leave no stone unturned to ensure survival of small newspapers. He said the government has constituted a committee to consider increasing advertisement rates in view of soaring inflation rate and the cost of printing and production of newspapers.
The minsiter also informed aboout the formation of a committee which will look into the cases of assault on journalists and will ensure that the assailants are punished. Speaking on the occasion, guardian minister Patangrao Kadam said he will personally look into the matters that are pending with the government.
Director of Information and Public Relations, Manisha Patankar-Mhaisekar said the government had always adopted the policy of co-operating with small newspapers.
