Aditya Birla group firm Grasim Industries today said its plants at Nagda in Madhya Pradesh have resumed operations following the onset of monsoon and the arrival of water in the Nagda reservoir.
The production is expected to be restored at their full capacity by June 30, 2011, Grasim Industries said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The Nagda facility has a staple fibre plant and another that produces chlor-alkali. Earlier this month, the company had completely suspended production at its staple fibre plant in Nagda due to water shortage.
The firm had also cut production by half at its chlor-alkali plant due to shortage of water.
Apart from the Nagda plant, the company has two other staple fibre facilities at Kharach in Gujarat and Harihar in Karnataka. As per the information available on the firm's website, the total production capacity of the three plants currently stands at 3,33,975 tonne per annum.
Shares of Grasim Industries today closed at Rs 2,068 on BSE, down 1.02% from its previous close.
