GSPC Gas Company Ltd, a gas distribution arm of state-run Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC), has set the target of achieving 3 lakh piped natural gas (PNG) connections by 2012. The company currently has 1.92 lakh PNG connections across Gujarat.
“By the end of 2012, we are confident of achieving 3 lakh PNG connections. Apart from this, the company is also focusing on industrial connections and it is growing fast in that segment as well," said, Dipen Chauhan, senior manager (commercial), GSPC Gas.It may be mentioned here that the company has also bid for supplying piped natural gas to Bhavnagar, Jamnagar and Kutch regions in the state. "At present, our prime focus is on Gujarat only," he added.The company has large number of domestic and industrial gas connections in Gujarat and Saurashtra region has huge share in it. "We are supplying about 60 percent of our production to Saurashtra, especially to the industries located in Morbi," said, Manish Goswami, chief project co-ordinator, GSPC Gas.GSPC Gas supplies PNG to domestic, commercial and industrial customers spread across 40 locations in 10 districts in Gujarat.With daily sales volumes of 3.3 Million Metric Standard Cubic Meter Per Day (MMSCMD), the company currently has a base of approximately 192000 domestic, more than 800 commercial and nearly 1000 industrial connections.
