GAIL already has a significant presence in the state. GSPCL, which is setting up a gas grid in the state for transportation of gas through its wholly owned subsidiary, Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (GSPL), produces 3.2 MMSCMD (Million Metres Standard Cubic Metres/Day) of gas.
This quantity is not sufficient to meet the projected demand for CNG in the state after 2005 when the public transport system in the state will be required to go green with CNG.
