Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Limited (GSPCL) has imported its fourth LNG cargo under the short term supply contract with Spanish company Gas Natural. This is GSPCL’s eighth spot LNG cargo sourced independently through the open market.

Loaded from Trinidad and Tobago, LNG carrier-Castillo de Villalba- containing over 53,000 metric tonnes of LNG reached at Hazira LNG Private Ltd’s LNG receiving and regassification terminal on August 27, 2010.

“Gas from the said cargo shall be supplied to the City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies, various power companies and industrial customers,” the company said in a statement.

Further, GSPC plans to import a couple of additional spot cargoes from the international market in view of the shortfall arisen due to ongoing Force Majeure in Panna-Mukta fields since July 20, 2010, which has affected various entities in the power, CGD as well as the fertiliser sectors. Thus, import of LNG shall relieve the said entities that are affected by such outage.
