Gujarat Ambuja Cements has reported a 50% surge in net profit to Rs 89.55 crore for the second quarter ended December 31, 2004 as compared to Rs 59.54 crore in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal. According to a release issued to the BSE, the total income (net of excise) has jumped 48% to Rs 660.67 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004 from Rs 445.21 crore in Q2-03.The company has posted a 50% rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 91.64 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004 as compared to Rs 61.11 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2003. The total income (net of excise) has increased from Rs 525.41 crore in Q2-03 to Rs 776.70 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004.Total income for consolidated results includes shares of earnings of associates, the release added.
