Gujarat NRE Coke is setting up its third plant at Dharwar, Karnataka to produce 4,00,000 metric tonne per annum (MTPA) of coke. After the completion of the project, total capacity of the company will be more than one million MTPA. This was announced in a release issued by the company to the BSE today."With sky-rocketing prices and uncertain availability of high quality coking coal, the company has decided to go for state-of-the-art stamp charging facility, which is being imported from China. The company will have the benefit of using low cost coking coal without compromising the quality of coke," the release added.The company is expecting savings of Rs 7 crore by way of duty-free import of capital goods under the EPCG scheme, and the proposed project will be competitive in terms of cost of project and pay back period, the release said."The company has firm export contracts worth Rs 135 crore to be executed by March 2006 besides various other deals at advanced stages of negotiations," the release added.
