GVK gets AAALAC certification for animal facilities

Hyderabad-based contract research organisation GVK Biosciences today said it has received full accreditation from the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) International for its animal facilities.

AAALAC International is a private, non-profit global organisation based in the US that promotes humane treatment of animals in science through voluntary accreditation and assessment programmes.

"The AAALAC certification will help in furthering GVK Bio's growth in the areas of pharmacology, exploratory toxicology and animal models," the company said in a statement.

Commenting on the AAALAC certification GVK Bio Senior Vice-President, Collaborative Research and Biology J B Gupta said it reiterates the fact that the team at GVK Bio is par excellence and provides high quality drug R&D services to its clients in a regulatory-compliant environment.
