Tile major H&R Johnson (India) Ltd is planning to set up a Rs 110 crore tile manufacturing unit in Rajasthan. |
The company has also decided to invest Rs 40 crore to more than double the production capacity of its Rajkot unit from 5,000 sq mt per day to 12,000 sq mt. |

The company is planning to set up a greenfield ceramic tile manufacturing unit in Rajasthan. The plant is expected to be operational by 2006. This unit is expected to have a production capacity of 25,000 sq mt per day. |

The Rajkot unit is primarily manufacturing vitrified tiles and was acquired by the company through a 50:50 joint venture. Following the capacity expansion, the Rajkot facility is expected to contribute an annual turnover of over Rs 200 crore. |

"Various plans are afoot to train its employees at various Johnson Ceramics International facilities across the world to upgrade their technical know-how and bring in international perspective to their day-to-day working," Vijay Aggarwal, managing director of the company said. |

The company has registered 34 per cent growth in net sales in the first half of FY06 to Rs 327.9 crore, compared with Rs 244.1 crore in the same period last year. |

Currently, the company exports its vitrified products to the UK, US, South Africa, Australia & Greece. |
