H&R Johnson (India) is setting up a cement tile manufacturing unit in Kolkata.The move is part of the company's expansion programme, which entails setting up five units across the country. The other units are being set up in Gujarat, Pune, Punjab and Delhi at a total cost of Rs 40 crore.The five new units would have a cumulative production capacity of more than 2,70,000 square feet per month. The Kolkata unit would have a production capacity of 65,000 square feet per month and the investment would be Rs 10 crore.Vijay Agarwal, MD, H& R Johnson (India) said: "We have adopted a localised strategy towards manufacturing and marketing our cement tiles. Our localised manufacturing capabilities give us the advantage of understanding our local customer's requirements."The cement tile business is expected to add significant revenues to the company's current target of achieving Rs 1,200 crore turnover at a growth rate of 30%. The company's sales volumes in the last financial year crossed 344 million square feet.H&R Johnson has five manufacturing units in South India. The units have a cumulative production capacity of 270,000 square feet per month.
